Civil Engineer CV: Template, Skills & Example (2026)

A civil engineer CV is judged on the projects you delivered — their scale, your role, and the standards you worked to. Recruiters scan for software and certifications; project managers want proof you delivered on time, on budget, and safely. This guide shows how to cover both, with extra notes for the Gulf construction market.

Sample professional summary

Civil engineer with 6+ years delivering infrastructure and building projects worth up to SAR 80M. Supervised site teams of 40+, delivering a mixed-use tower 5% under budget and with zero lost-time incidents. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Primavera, with hands-on FIDIC contract experience.

What recruiters look for

First, the technical stack and certifications: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit/BIM, structural software (STAAD, ETABS), and credentials like a PE, chartered status, or local board registration (e.g. Saudi Council of Engineers). List them clearly so the ATS and reviewer find them fast.

Then, delivered projects. Name the project type, value, your role, and the result — schedule, budget, and safety record matter as much as the design itself.

Write project-focused bullets

Use the pattern: role + project + scale + outcome. "Supervised structural works on a 22-storey tower (SAR 60M), delivered 3 weeks ahead of schedule with zero safety incidents" beats "Worked on construction projects."

Quantify scale and impact: project value, area built, team size, schedule variance, cost savings, and safety metrics.

Certifications and the Gulf market

For Gulf roles, registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (or the equivalent in the UAE/Qatar) is often mandatory — put it near the top. Note PMP, OSHA/NEBOSH, and FIDIC familiarity, all common filters in regional postings.

If you have GCC site experience, say so explicitly — local code and climate experience is a strong differentiator.

Show software and standards

List your design and planning tools exactly as postings word them (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Primavera P6, STAAD.Pro). Pair them with the codes and standards you work to (ACI, BS, Eurocode, Saudi Building Code) — these are strong ATS keywords and signal real competence.
